Kak yan, did you study bakery?
I took a short course at ICCA in Kota Damansara. But honestly, I don't think it was enough. I hope in the near future I can take a proper diploma course in patisserie and who knows, I can become a certified pastry chef. =)

where do you buy meringue powder?
Oh cool a baking question. I buy from wilton or Bake with Yen sells them too. The wilton one is more expensive but better quality. But the one at Bake with Yen works well too..

Playing with colours
A few customers have told me that they like my cakes because of how I play with the colours. It makes the cake pop and kids especially really get attracted to it. Colours really set the right mood for any cake. Soft, romantic colours for wedding and engagement cakes and pretty, warm colours for birthday cakes. But for me, one thing that is always the same for any type of cake is that there must be a contrast of a few different colours so that the cake isn't boring coz afterall, it is just a cake! so don't be afraid to play with even the brightest colours!
Family Reunion cake. Bright, fun colours for a happy family gathering.
Birthday cakes should always be bright and cheery. But the background is usually a lighter shade of colour.
Romantic white engagement cake with a pop of red and pink.
Come back for more!
